Open letter to my Congressman

Congressman and fellow American
I received the news letter of your trip to Afghanistan and I could not help but to respond.
As a faithful GOP member of forty years that has gone thru a revival during the past year, I found your news letter on the trip to Afghanistan disappointing. Your brief history on Afghanistan omitted the fact that since it's founding in 1747 no foreign army has ever defeated them nor it showed your personal view on this matter. Where at one time, as a good Republican I was fooled into believing that we were fighting wars to spread democracy and help the people of other nations I can no longer see it entirely that way. The generosity and the good faith of the American people has not changed in that respect but unfortunately there are other hidden forces within our nation that do not act in good faith when it comes to wars and intervention.
There are no claims of future victory in Afghanistan and only claims of no more than one hundred Al-Qaeda members. If we are not planning on winning the war and we are not fighting Al-Qaeda, what are we there for other than to have our soldiers maimed and killed and to sell Opium? I can see the picture clearly now and the Taliban are Freedom fighters who do not want foreign forces to intrude in their way of live. I will repeat; the Taliban are Freedom fighters as are the members of the Tea Party and the 9-12 Coalition who are fighting for the survivor of their traditional values not matter what they may be. I don't know if we will ever restore our Freedom, Free Market and lost traditional values at the ballot box but it should be something for you to consider. Your constituency has changed and become better informed about our government and perhaps you should have your staff to do some research to better inform you.
I personally as many others have become less faithful to political parties when it comes to who is serving the best interest of our nation. Polls have recently shown that the Tea Party has become more popular than both of our political parties are. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich got it right when it comes to foreign wars. We need to stop the CFR and other special interests in determining when and where we go to war and give that power back to the Congress elected by the people which is the way our Constitution allows it.
Respectfully
Pedro Alfonso
