No Bailout for the Automakers and the UAW

We keep wondering what is happening to our economy and how is it going to get fixed. The answer is simple; let Capitalism follow its natural course and keep government out of it. Any business that is not good at what they do will bankrupt and another one with fresh and better ideas will replace it and rehire the people that lost jobs. That is what is best for consumers, taxpayers and our Capitalistic system.
Follow up:
Paper money stuffed under a mattress will be worth less tomorrow than it was yesterday. The small percentage of our population that own big money know that. So they will invest it, open businesses and create jobs and their money will grow. That is the natural path of Capitalism and needs not to be corrupted with the interference of a Socialist Government. If we keep helping the big companies we make it even more difficult for new smaller business to get started as such creates an unfair balance of opportunity.
Over two years ago Delta airlines file for Chapter 11. They continued to fly while they restructure. They emerged from bankruptcy and are still flying today. The automakers need to go the same road. If General Motor files for Chapter 11 they will continue to make cars. As an ex-employee of Winn Dixie Stores Inc. we saw the executives make one bad decision after another. They drove a debt free company with a stock value of over $50 in the New York Stock Exchange into the ground. They filed for Chapter 11 and re-emerged strong and with new fresh ideas. That is the American way and the path for our Capitalistic society to follow. Our government with its Socialist approach is destroying it.
Why aren't President George W. Bush and President elect Barack Obama listening to the people? The people are clearly speaking and are saying “no bailout”. Look at the polls on this subject. If you trust the Socialist news media and wish to accept their bias view as fact you will find that a bailout for GM has lukewarm acceptance but if you go on line and look at the independent surveys you will find that 70 to 80% of those voting are against a bailout for the Automakers.
Bad decisions by management and the United Auto Workers union (UAW) have bankrupted the American auto makers. It was not the rest of America’s workers that got them where they are so therefore they should not pick up the tab. The only guilt of the American people was to have purchased millions of Japanese and Koreans vehicles. If the U.S. automakers would have kept up with competitive prices and better quality products the American people would not have abandoned them. The executives, the stock holders, the union and the workers are responsible for their failure and they are the only ones that should pay.
Executives of these companies made huge salaries while running them into the ground. The union workers make over $70 per hour with benefits and our Government wants to tax people that make $10 to $20 to bail them out. This concept is if not corrupt is at the least an abuse. Let’s let them file for bankruptcy. They will continue to operate just as many other companies have done when they filed for Chapter 11. It is not true that tens or thousand of jobs will be lost, they are not shutting down. They will restructure and readjust just as people do when they face a financial crisis and they will re-emerge perhaps better and sounder than before. If we bail them out without restructuring we will have to bail them out again and again. Let’s say enough.
It should come as no surprise that Barack Obama and the Democrats will seek for a taxpayer bailout of the Automakers as they may feel obligated. The United Auto Workers union endorsed Obama and the Democrats. The UAW saw it coming and wanted to buy their support. Barack Obama who campaigned on a message of Change should tell the Automakers and the UAW that is is time to "change" instead of kissing up to them for their votes.
Most politicians running for office today invoke the names of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan as their wannabe but they are not. Ronald Reagan took on the Air Traffic controllers when they tried to black mail our nation. None of today's politician would have the courage to do what Ronald Reagan did when he fired 11,365 air traffic controllers and later refused to rehire them.
Our Government elected officials are no longer Public Servants they are our ruling Elite. Their only interest is the benefit of having a job with the benefits that they have created for themselves and that the majority of our citizens do not share. They have medical insurance that we buy for them but many of us cannot afford for ourselves. And while they fail to fix our Social Security system for which we paid during our entire working life, they are entitle to pensions that far exceed what Social Security offers. These pensions will not fail if Social Security does, they still would get pay. Their salary as of January 1st 2008 was $169,300 and that does not include allowances that offers free food, expense accounts of $100’s of thousands and free travel. Just think for a moment of the money that we are investing on these people who are only interested in our vote and give us nothing in return. They don’t even listen to us once they get elected. They spend most of their time and resources on securing re-election.
The auto makers do not need a tax-payers bailout. Our Government should even reconsider on how to use the $700 billion economy bailout package that was already approved. It obviously has done nothing to restore confidence as the Stock Market keeps on plunging and destroys our 401K accounts.
No more bailouts. No more Socialism.
