Barack vs. Sarah and the experience factor
By P Alfonso on Sep 4, 2008 | In 9. Presidential Election 2008
Experience is still a major factor in this election year. Pro-Obama pundits want to distort his inexperience reality by creating an Obama - Palin comparison. The selection of a woman to the Republican ticket, and that same opportunity that the Democratic Party passed, has aroused such panic that they have resorted to futile personal attacks on Sarah Palin and her family. The liberal media is frantically hoping that such attacks will demean her credentials. They cannot legitimately argue that Barack Obama experience is anywhere near that of John McCain. The Obama camp has conceded once again of the inexperience in their candidate by comparing Obama with the candidate for VP in the Republican Party ticket.
Follow up:
Perhaps what some democrats don’t like about her is that she can wear something other than pantsuits and can shoot to kill. If elected, in order for Sarah Palin to become president McCain would have to die or be incapacitated. That being the case, it would give us as President a patriotic sexy looking bad ass gun toting conservative. Sarah Palin is anti-corruption; pro-life; pro-drilling; pro-winning the war; anti-tax raising; pro-buy your own medical insurance; a Washington outsider; governing experienced, etc...
On the Democratic side we have Barack Obama who happens to be the candidate for President and has nothing in common with Sarah Palin; which means that none of the above applies to him. Obama is the presidential candidate and if elected he cannot wait for someone to die to assume office. He has to be ready on the first day, and that he is not. How qualified is a lawyer community organizer that has been a U.S. Senator for three years and campaigning for President half of that time? There is little to debate on the issue. Obama is running on his two line resume against that of John McCain and not Sarah Palin.
A legitimate comparison for Sarah Palin would be Joseph Biden who is the Democratic ticket VP. The Democrats in 2000 wasted no time attacking Dick Cheney for having draft deferments during the Vietnam War. So it happens that Joseph Biden has five. Other than being the third and the first most liberal in the U.S. Senate; respectively Joseph Biden and Barack Obama are not a show of unison. Biden voted opposite with Barack Obama on the major issues in respect to Iraq:
The war: Barack Obama – NO - Joseph Biden – YES
Iraq war funding: Barack Obama – NO - Joseph Biden –YES
Iraq troupe surge: Barack Obama – NO - Joseph Biden – NO (so much from experience on Biden’s side)
It is ironic that the only time that Barack Obama and Joseph Biden agreed on the Iraq war they were both wrong. If we put inexperience aside and only go on with judgment, we can see that the Democratic ticket does not have much to offer here either.
You cannot promote an Army Corporal to General and expect that he will lead your Army into victory.
You cannot promote a car salesman to CEO of an auto maker and not to expect that the company will collapse.
No President stands alone and his advisory picks are of great importance. In spite of the President need for advisors, we cannot elect a person who does not have the knowledge and judgment to make important an imminent decisions and has to rely solely on a number of people that were not elected and then deliberate for days on their recommendations. This is the same kind of failed foreign policy decision making process that John F. Kennedy conducted. An example is the failed 'Cuba Bay of Pigs Invasion' that ultimately almost drove us into a nuclear war with Russia during the ‘Cuban Missile Crisis’. These incidents and the way the Vietnam War was conducted were real Foreign Policy and National Security blunders.
With all of the criticism and mistakes made on the Iraq and Afghanistan war, ultimately the outcome will be victories because they were conducted with the determination and strength of a real leader. If given the responsibility, Barack Obama and Joseph Biden would have already turn the Iraq war into a defeat. More important yet, if they were given the responsibility of finishing it, their policies and judgment could turn and almost certain victory into defeat.
Liberals do not like to accept the fact that we live in a hostile world and must always look beyond our borders. It is shameful and unpatriotic of those who live in a world of national self-incrimination and disrespect our elected public officials that stand with pride for our country and for those who make the ultimate sacrifice to defend it.
We face critical times with dependence on world energy and world trade. This is no time to elect leaders to do on job training, or those who lack the wisdom to see that what happens inside our borders is reflection of what is happening outside of them. We need a leader that will maintain and project our national strength in a sometimes unfriendly world and someone that recognizes our nation as righteous instead of wicked.
(Barack Obama July 24th, 2008) "...In Europe, the view that America is part of what has gone wrong in our world, rather than a force to help make it right, has become all too common. "I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions..." In this critical election year, we do not need for leader a presidential candidate that goes outside our borders to make self-incriminating unsolicited apologies in behalf of our citizens as Barack Obama did in Germany.
We are the most powerful and generous country in the world and do not deserve a weak leader that does not recognize it. We need a strong, experienced and unapologetic patriot like John McCain.
Vote wisely in 2008.
